My dream scenario for finishing up the MLB season:

Cubs lose out and beat out the Rockies for the No. 2 pick. Okay, enough of that...

1) Orioles, Yankees, A's, Angels four-way tie. I'm not going to be greedy and throw Tampa Bay in there too, though it looks mathematically possible.

Yankees and Orioles would play a tiebreaker for the division on the first day after the regular season. Winner moves on, loser drops into the Wild Card tiebreakers.

Wouldn't the loser be out? If the playoff game for the division counts then they're a half game back, no?

Nope, they changed that rule either last year or this year, forget which.

Per what I read head-to-head only determines who gets home-field in that tiebreaking game.

Correct. Since there's a serious difference between the division winner and wild card, they now play the tiebreaker game.

Farnsworth learned everything he knew about the nightlife from Mark Grace, whom some Cubs fans have been pining for as a hitting coach in recent days.

He most likely will be available, considering he hasn't done any D'backs TV since his last DWI.

Marlins reliever Heath Bell on the 2012 season:

"It's been an interesting year with Ozzie," Bell said in an appearance on "The Dan Sileo Show" on 560 WQAM in Miami.

"It's hard to respect a guy that doesn't tell you the truth or doesn't tell you face-to-face," he said later, after initially declining to elaborate. "There's probably reasons why."

Well then.

This series will either be the killshot for the Rangers or will set up an incredible final week.

These are the things that happen when a bunch of teams are fighting for two wild-card spots: Me, an Angels fan, rooting for Texas to clinch with a four-game sweep so the Halos can gain ground on the A's. Weird.

Obviously a big series underway in Arlington.

Nerves are prevalent.

Especially among the guys who have been mainlining Red Bull and coffee to the point that their eyes dried shut.

He does have a addictive trait in his personality after all.
