2013 MLB Regular Season running thread

How can MLB allow any of that crew to ever work another game? It's just not possible to look at replays and make the call the way they did.

Interesting stat from the Mariners radio crew:

By beating the Pirates 2-1 today, Felix Hernandez earned his 50th "FQS" ... a "Felix Quality Start" of at least 8 innings pitched allowing 1 or fewer earned runs.

He has 50 of those in 246 career starts.

Not too shabby.

Paging 93Devil.

It's a great stat! :)

This is what I love about sports.

People make bad calls. Hernandez and crew kicked that call to heck and back.

Melvin got ran for it, and he knew that once they pointed at second base, he was gonna get dumped.

And no one died.

In all seriousness, how the heck did Angel Hernandez become a crew chief? Did he get that post just by being around long enough? forking mind boggling.

He's been around for 22 years, so that may be part of it. I remember they had to switch him from Joe West' crew over to Gerry Davis' a couple years back. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in there. "Uh....Angel.....all of us think you are horseshirt.."

Say the word Angel Hernandez around Wrigley Field to diehard Cubs/Bears fans, and you'll instantly see their blood boil when recalling the whole Mongo McMichael debacle.

I should know this, but I presume there is not in fact a way to fire an umpire of that lengthy a tenure?
