2022 SI Sportsman of the Year

Maybe they didn't want to give it to a person who could suddenly be on a different team by the time the issue came out.

In recent years, SI has given a lot of weight to what winners do off the field as well as on it. That's what tilted things in Curry's favor, no doubt.

SI has also trended toward keeping it to three categories: Football, Basketball and Female Athletes. After Brady and Curry the last two years, the U.S. women's World Cup team, should it win the title, will have some sort of representation in 2023. If it doesn't, SI could get creative and go with one male athlete and one female athlete who have similar off-the-field credentials.

Are we sure the award is not a deep-fake?

heck of a way to promote the issue. Tiger got a hologram from SI, Steph got a doctored video. I do wonder since newstand sales and advertising are pretty much moot now with the magazine, if that changes how the award is decided.
