2025 MLB running thread

Giants conclude the first road trip of the season going 5-1, including a sweep in Houston. Encouraged by what I'm seeing so far. Better situational hitting and starters going deeper into games. It's like Buster Posey took all the spreadsheets, tied a rock to them and threw them in the Cove.

Dodgers go down 5-0 in the second and come back to win 6-5 in the ninth on an Ohtani home run on his bobble head night. They are 8-0 and Braves are 0-7.
Wow

Time will tell if the Braves are bad. They have played two excellent teams.
And there are still three wild cards available.

They may not be THAT bad, and they'll get Strider and Acuña back at some point.

But this is a .500 team since mid-May of last year -- over 130 games of sample size. This is no longer an elite team. And the apparent motivation for their offseason was to stay below the Competitive Balance Tax -- as going over it for a third-straight year would have resulted in a 50-percent tax. Thus, Alex Anthopoulos did nothing to compensate for rotation and bullpen losses. I doubt it's a 90-loss outfit, but I think it levels off as a mediocre side.

The team also had the farcical PR move of announcing a purchase of a six-building expansion near The Battery on Wednesday in the midst of its craptacular start to the season. The tweet got ratioed.

Aaron Judge just went deep for his 500th extra-base hit in his 999th MLB game.

That's quite the pace.
