2025-star Frog Splash! Pro Wrestling Thread

"Cope" just sounds desperate as hell. I mean, what was the conversation like to come up with that?

FKA Edge: "Hey Tony, I think for my comeback, we need to do something different with my name."

Tony: "Well, we can't use 'Edge'. Levesque would drag Jerry McDevitt out of retirement and take the Jaguars away from me and my Dad. Got any other ideas?"

FKA Edge: "There's always Sexton Hard …"

Tony: "Are you shipping me?"

FKA Edge: "Why not? It's a nod to the past …"

Tony: "Yeah, and Hollywood Hulk Hogan wanted to be called 'Wood' at one point. I don't want to keep repeating WCW's fork-ups. I guess we'll just have to cope …"

FKA Edge: "That's it!"

Tony: "What's it?"

FKA Edge: "Cope! We'll shorten my last name and we'll call me that!"

Tony: "I guess. We can sell T-Shirts telling people "Cope" and they'll just have to cope. Let's go for it! I mean, it could be worse. We could do the half-name thing and call you Sex Hard Ton Castle."

For anyone hoping for another wrestling biopic to watch in 2025, this one on Mildred Burke looks interesting:

At least they took their effort casting the background roles well. With Kamille, Toni Storm, Naomi and Britt Baker in it.

I wonder if her shooting this was the impetus for the birth of Timeless Toni Storm.

The book is very good. The real-life Burke had a very compelling albeit complex and somewhat sad life. I don't know from the preview if they're getting into all that, or if they're just going to focus on the women's equality aspect (which also was a part of her story).

But what was up with the farmer tapping out? Tap-outs didn't occur until the 90s.

Like the Iron Claw, I'll have to keep telling myself that it's a movie and not a documentary. Although with Burke's life, they could have made that a documentary as well like they did with Lipstick and Dynamite.

Legendary wrestler who Bret Hart, in his book, credited with saving his father's territory by being such a huge draw in Western Canada. RIP
Huge star in the Toronto area too and after his in-ring career ended he was known for his legendary karaoke nights at various bars and clubs around the city. RIP to The Sweetest Man in All The Land and the Ladies' Pet and the Men's Regret.

Going to need to get used to AEW archives grow on Max and Raw archives on Netflix.

Saw some of the first Dynamite, and it's become weird now hearing "Adrenaline" and seeing Cody on that side -- especially without that godforsaken tattoo. Also at a time when he could not use the Rhodes name.

It's Gooker time!
AEW showing the All In video is currently ahead by a comfortable margin, but it's still early.

There were some good candidates that I'd forgotten about, like Adam Cole vs. MJF (which included the horrible payoff to the Devil angle), the Rock trying to take over Wrestlemania (a sneaky strong contender when you really look at all of it), and Mercedes Moné being a complete flop in AEW.
The Learning Tree is also on there and getting a fair number of votes, which is kind of disappointing since I like it. It's obviously not connecting with a lot of people, but I'm not sure its most vocal critics get the point that it's supposed to be annoying.

Will that be the first Gooker Award that's basically a carryover of last year's winner? The CMP/AEW drama in 2023 won and the CMP/AEW drama in 2024 will win again.
