This is some good work - if I didn't know better I'd guess that this was made back in the 1980s, the lighting, the settings. The use of a guy playing "The Greek" might be questioned by some, but it works. The mood is great, like you're at a some little neighborhood bar a little bit before closing time, the guy telling you the story knows the bartender so you get to stay and keep getting topped off while cigarette smoke is wafting about.

I didn't so much mind the voiceovers by the Jimmy the Greek sound-a-like. You gotta do what you gotta do when the guy's dead or otherwise unavailable. But the out-of-focus shots of a guy who kind of looked like the Greek, I thought that was kind of hokey.

I thought the documentary was otherwise very well-done. Compelling story, and not just because of the way it ended.

Francesa talked about it all afternoon. Spoke of how close he was the Jimmy and told story after story.

All going well till caller asks fatso - "Mike if you were so close to The Greek how come you did not go to his funeral?" Call left Francesa stuttering and stamering for 20 minutes

Did not. Bob Fishman, who was the director of NFL Today, said he went, but didn't mention who else was there.

Greek was 68 at the time he was let go from CBS, surprised he was struggling financially at the end. You would have figured some casino would have thrown him a bone to be a greeter or host at a sports book.
Of all the "people fired for asinine comments" I think I felt the most sorry for the Greek. It's not like he went to lunch and had a few pops expecting to be asked about race and thought "you know, I'm glad you asked." It also didn't help that the story was pegged to Martin Luther King's birthday.
I almost think if I were the reporter and give him a couple of chances at it like Koppell gave Campanis.
I'm surprised the Greek never wrote a book, maybe it was just different then before people realized how much controversy sells.
