The U documentary brought back too many childhood memories. I hated those Miami teams at the time, but in hindsight I appreciate them and spending time in Liberty City and Overtown...I understand it a lot better.

Although I always enjoyed the Notre Dame beat down and they were right, Nebraska and Oklahoma were scoring 60+ points week in and week out and no one said ship.

I have watched The U twice already - those teams didn't just have swagger, they had swagger that was on crack. Best part of The U was the phone call to Brian Bosworth in the middle of the night.

And it's so true that football was really what brought the university to prominence. Though I can vividly remember my father's response in the mid-1990s when I told him I was considering Miami for college and for grad school - "YOU WHAT? You want me to let you go to Miami? Have you seen that football team? Do you know what it's like there?"

Finally finished watching it today - Four national titles in 10 years with three coaches is amazing stuff. Schnellenberger was a genius in giving the players ownership of the program.
Still seeing the cockiness of all involved in the program, the aloofness of Erickson, then and now, was stunning. Sad seeing the wrecking ball go to work on the Orange Bowl. I'm surprised they didn't sell pieces of that considering the Super Bowls and other memorable football games played there.

Late to the game here, but just as you, I watched it twice in three days. I don't have DVR, and I missed the original broadcasts, so I had my dad record the last broadcast so I could watch it at home for the holidays. GRIPPING ship, to say the least.

My highlights were:

1. No more audio at the coin flip. "We ain't scared," "We ain't your bitches." RACK THAT.
2. The Jessie Armstead, pre-Triple H hands to the crotch gesture at midfield taunt.
3. Prior to the Cotton Bowl: "Let's just beat the ship out of these guys and get the fork out of here."

I've heard the USFL one is great. I need to see that one.

Enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a good documentary.

Trump's obliviousness to his role in destroying the league is hilarious and sad at the same time, especially when you hear everyone else talk about how the league could have survived in the spring. Tollin hit all the right notes here.

Seconded. Well worth the time.
