AMC's The Walking Dead

Disturbing - Watching Carl flop around on the bed. I loved the way it was shot from above and you see this seizing child, nearly as pale as the sheet, on a bed in some desolate-looking room. Lincoln and Callies really sold that, too, as horrified and hopeless parents.

This scene was great. Really solid acting all around.

Intriguing - Hanging Zombie discovered by Daryl and Andrea.

The note he left behind was hilarious.

Morbid - Shane shooting Otis to save his own ass. That was dark. Very dark. I've read a few reasons why he chose to kneecap him rather than put one between his eyes. 1) Live, squirming flesh is much more appealing to the walkers than a dead body; 2) Something deep inside Shane made him want revenge for the man who shot Carl and thus put them in their current situation.

Good God almighty, this scene really got me. They were almost to the road and then, bam! Shane busts a cap in the dude's knee. I like this turn in his character, and it's something I definitely didn't see coming.

I didn't see it coming either, but I liked that it still fit in with what we know of his character. Those of us who didn't see it coming certainly COULD have seen it coming. It wasn't something out of left field, but it wasn't entirely something we thought he would do, either. Good piece of writing and it should make Shane's story arc much more interesting to follow.

Daryl might be the coolest character on the show, BTW.

That's a waste of an arrow ...

That line, for whatever reason, cracked me up.

I kind of expected him to somehow leave Otis behind or use him to get away, but definitely didn't see that coming. And thought it was great. My wife felt the first two episodes were too slow, and I kind of agreed, but that certainly put a jolt into things.

I think we've reached that AMC-style of storytelling at this point. It's a slow burn toward big events that surprise the heck out of you.

@bigpern - You're right. My buddy texted me today, "Is Shane evil?"

My take on Shane wasn't as "evil." Dude was slowing them down and with only two shots left, someone needed to go to get the medical equipment back. And then the guilt set in.

On the other hand, I'm OK with saving your ass, too. fork it. If only one is living, it's going to be me.

He also forked his best friend and partner's wife and got quite hands-on with Lori at the CDC. He has, however, shown remorse. Perhaps he's on the path to evil.

But if you think about it, we only had six episodes last season. There wasn't a lot of time to sit back and let things develop. They've got 12 or 13 this season, so they're playing things out.

I like it.

We're going to see Otis again, right, as a walker (limper?). And he's going to have a bullet in his leg and maybe that will out Shane to the others.

I don't know. From the previews for next week, it looks like the group is leaving the safehouse.

Yeah, I like it, too. The slow build to the big event is why I enjoy serialized drama more than anything else on TV.

Man, I don't know. He got freakin' devoured. Most of the walkers are bite victims or partially chewed on (ex Hanging Zombie). They ate the fork out of Otis. I'm guessing he's a pile of bones.
