The Detroit Free Press is hiring an assistant sports editor (Gannett's official title is content coach). This position will have assigning duties and be in charge on weekends. If you know someone qualified and interested, please contact me and/or have that person apply. We are gonna move fast on the hire. - Kevin Bull (kbull@freepress.com). Here is a link:

Good to hear about somebody hiring. Is this the job Todd Adams had? Or perhaps an additional hire?

They're hiring while everyone in the newsroom has been offered a buyout? Alarums!

They gotta move fast before one of the higher-ups realizes the position can be cut.

And somewhat related Detroit question: Did the Detroit News name a sports editor?

I'm not even sure if they posted the position. I know one of the reporters and they weren't sure what was going on back in December.
