That's not what I said at all.

I said race is often irrelevant to the story, except for those looking to benefit by exploiting it, like racists and race-baiters.

From a media perspective, race is sometimes relevant to the story for the nonracists and non-race baiters, but not often.

Yes. Like when it can serve an agenda for someone like Charles Blow.

Explain why it's ok if it serves his agenda, but not ok if serves "Rush Limbaugh's".

It's not OK in either instance. I never said otherwise.

It's possible for opposing sides of whatever "narrative" you think exists to both be full of shirt.

Never understood why this case did not draw more national attention:

It has been a year since police in a small town in Westchester County, New York, shot and killed Danroy Henry Jr. But for Henry's family, each day seems every bit the same as the one before it.

"The reality of what we are dealing with is that we are stuck in many ways on October 17, 2010," Danroy Henry Sr. said. "We're stuck there. We haven't moved on from that date. We've been stuck in this battle to get clarity and an admission as to why DJ isn't here with us anymore. Until we have that, in many ways time has stood still for us."

Danroy "DJ" Henry was a 20-year-old Pace University football player from the Boston suburb of Easton, Mass., who was shot and killed outside of a bar in Thornwood, N.Y. The shooting has been mired in controversy and drew national attention amid allegations of racial bias and lawyers' assertions that the police department's close ties to the District Attorney's office had compromised the investigation of the shooting.

YF, I say this as nicely as possible, playing the unappreciated victim comes about as naturally to you as an oral bowel movement.

I've been respectful this entire time, and we reached an impasse. I've detailed exactly why we disagree, and what could be done to find common ground.

You're very skilled at arguing. That doesn't make you, deck, Xan or Baron any more correct. You're wrong both in how the media operates in reporting crime stories, and whose responsibility it is to objectively report facts and whose responsibility is to fling poo.

I don't disagree with you on that. But I also don't think the case is the same as Martin. Again: If George Zimmerman is arrested the night of the shooting, you never hear of Trayvon Martin. The story wasn't salacious enough. We've heard way more about Islan Nettles at this point than we had of Trayvon Martin at this point. There is still plenty of time for the story to blow up. In comparison to Martin at the same time juncture, it already has.

No two stories are exactly the same.

We're closing in on 11 days since she was neaten, and a week since the plug was pulled on her.

Her death has gotten some press coverage, but it is no one's cause.

Let's see if that changes. I don't think it will, because the it doesn't serve anyone's agenda.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

What do you think is a more widespread, relatable problem:

The racial profiling of young black men?

Or fatal beatings of trans-genders?

That's part of it, too.

Nettles was a member of an oppressed minority. But it is a tiny and quite unrelatable oppressed minority.

There also isn't as much of a historical background of oppression for transgenders as there is for blacks.
