So to make sure I don't just become a couch potato on the coming winter weekends and to keep engaged, my wife and play some mind stimulating games; Scrabble, Blockus; etc. one particular favorite is called "Banana Peel" where you make words on scrabble like pieces but there's a time element. Anyone else have any recommendations?

Balderdash is fun.

Chess.

Chutes and Ladders. Or is that Candyland?

Cribbage. My wife and I played it (not responsible for demise of marriage), my son and his wife play it after the kids are in bed. Great game.
I also love backgammon. I got my wedding party members a board as their gift (not responsible for demise of marriage) and still have two myself - a fancy one and a regular one.

Both games can be finished in 15 or so minutes, they don't drag on forever like some do.
