Boston Globe harmful and wrong headline: Transgender boxer advances

And not to post-pad, but yes, Greg is one of the AP sports top-notch writers. It sucks he has to reply to all that noise, unfortunately, but staying silent would be really bad.

It took 48ish hours from the first time someone saw this on a proof for anyone to think, "ship, we have a problem and should issue a correction?"

The SE should be fired for allowing this to happen. You went through the entire day Friday and didn't put out this inferno?

The lack of flushing of the new hed is almost as damning as the original bad hed.

It's like the paginator left a pregnant pause for a reason.
And it was done so shiptily and without thought that Algeria is repeated in hed and dek.

The $15 an hour headline writer will land on his or her feet as a cashier at CVS. Might be a little tougher for their editor boss.

Globe is a Guild newsroom. They've been without a contract for years, but their desk guys are still making way more than $15/hour.

I remain amazed the SE/EIC sat on their hands all of Friday and thought nothing was wrong here. If they were on vacation, tough ship, time to get back on duty. Waiting 36 hours to issue a correction/apology is chicken ship.
