Bring him the brandy: RIP Mike Lange

"Bow wow pee cow kick!" -- Rachel Nichols

Sadly, you can't Google it anymore. :(

Wasn't a huge hockey fan but, growing up in Pittsburgh, it was definitely a presence and I'd argue hockey isn't as big in the city without him. Also, a huge blues fan.

Remember first hearing him as a child in the mid and late 1970s due to KDKA's blowtorch of a signal.
IIRC, his one-year departure in 1975 was connected with the Penguins then-bankrupcy. The franchise also almost left Pittsburgh a couple of more times, at least.
From Jean Pronovost-Lowell MacDonald through the Lemieux era and Sid the Kid, Lange brought to those broadcasts pashion and enthusiasm.
Rest in peace to a one-of-a-kind broadcaster.

Man, I remember listening to clear channel AM on my transistor radio as a kid. KMOX and WOAI came in loudest, but KDKA was there too.

Even as a big person I try to tune in an extra inning baseball game if I can find it. Especially West Coast extra inning baseball. Those are the dog's nuts.

I did that from my clock radio in my bedroom in Atlanta. I kept a spiral notebook with all the out-of-town stations I could hear.

Used to get WHO from Des Moines and listen to Iowa State basketball, led by the great Dean Uthoff, and WGN in Chicago, where I heard Dave Corzine and DePaul — "Dunkaroo! Corzine for two!"
