Something about warmed-over, kinda soggy and slimy apples turns me off.

Blueberries, cherries, etc. — they're softer by nature, so their consistency in a pie is alright.
I had an apple cranberry pie over Thanksgiving that did not have soggy apple slices. Sadly the top crust was a half inch of sugar and flour thrown together — I like crust, but that was too much. Otherwise it was the best apple-involved pie I've had.
