Dr. James Andrews: Let them play

Whatever "we're" doing in tennis, it's a spectacular failure on the world stage.

When my son made his JV baseball team last year as a freshman, he was the only kid on the roster who hadn't played even one inning of travel ball. As a consequence, he's more raw than the most advanced kids skill-wise, but he's healthy and loves playing the game a lot more than most of the kids who have been driven like pack mules since they were 7. I'll take that exchange any time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I've told my friends the day I start the travel shirt is the day they need to pick up a baseball bat, knock me upside the head and put me out of my misery.

Oh, lighten up, Francis. Spending the weekend watching your kid try hard, and play at a reasonably advanced level - its not the worst thing you'd do as a parent.

I coached Little League for a few years and saw more and more kids trying to throw curve balls. Not one of them could throw it for a strike. So after suffering through a year of seeing kids swing at balls in the dirt, I will simply say that measures were taken. Don't judge me.

So how did the big U10 National Championship finish? I was busy and didn't catch Sportscenter.

Hunter Colon dominated the finals against Aiden Halladay.

Ha. That's good. It is kind of amusing to see some of the offspring work their way up, though.

As for the tournament, Diamond MVP beat East Cobb in the finals. Not a huge surprise.

The winning team will be calling any second now to know why nobody's written a story on them yet.
