First time surgery

Sorry for the delay in responding Burns. Anyway, the surgery was not too onerous. It didn't take long and I was only on crutches afterwards for a couple of days. Of course, that was like 15 years ago and my body was, well, better than it is now. Surgery was done by Celtics team physician, so I figured I was in good hands, as he did knees worth a lot of money.

Nice! She will not be getting any team physicians to work on her. Her surgeon looks like he's about 12 years old.

I went with her to the initial consult earlier this week, and they are waffling between doing a repair, where they basically pull over the detached part, attach it to the kneecap(?) and put her on crutches for 12 weeks, or just shave off the damaged part where the meniscus is smooth, and she can walk on it (with a brace) as soon as the next day, as pain allows. But that would mean she'll have bone-on-bone, accelerating the need for a future knee replacement.

We keep going back to turning it around on the surgeon - if this was you or your mom or daughter or sister or wife, what would you do?

Getting old is forking horseshirt.

Obviously her tear was much more severe than mine. Don't worry about the surgeon's looks, that's just old speaking. The woman who removed my gall bladder (forgot that one on original list) arrived on her bicycle with her backpack. She wore a gosh darn ponytail. She did fine.
