There are a number of board references that may be lost on people newish to the board. Feel free to add your own, or ask about something you don't "get."

15 minutes from Tahoe - a job listing said it was "15 minutes from Lake Tahoe" - it wasn't. Closer to Yosemite as I remember. (Maybe it was by air?) Ergo - job listings with dubious claims and other geographic references get the "15 minutes from Tahoe" tag.

The NCAA is about to come down hard on Cleveland State - A reference to the NCAA practice of ignoring the misdeeds of major programs and slamming the lower level school to show how "tough" it is. Used in reference to some misdeed being discovered about a big name (actor, company, athlete etc.). Ex. Germany discovered to be using PED in its soccer program. "FIFA is going to come down hard on the soccer team of Bhutan."

You probably should have also provided a roadmap for how to distinguish one accusation of trolling (!) from ... ahem ... another.

/BlueFont — to help you distinguish a sarcastic/joke comment from a serious one. Can actually be written with a blue-colored font or a simple tag at the end will suffice.

The Cleveland State reference actually comes from a quote by the late UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian, who said, "The NCAA is so mad at Kentucky that they are going to give an extra two years probation to Cleveland State."

I'll ask a question. Why do people think the "6" things thing is funny?

I'll ask a question. Why do people think the "6" things thing is funny?

It was in reference to a thread where a poster (I forget who) said Kate Upton wasn't as attractive as people think and called her a 6. Some people here thought that was ridiculous and has referred to all highly attractive women as 6s rather than 8s, 9s or 10s.

EDIT: Was it TigerVols?

OK. But why is it funny?

It's funny because Kate Upton .... she's hot ... she got called a 6 ... she isn't a 6 ... Yeah I got nothing.

Honestly I think it's just morphed into a SJism that has transcended "funny"

Humor is a matter of taste. The "6" thing and the Brad Renfro thing make me roll my eyes. Nothing funny about either one. The 15 minutes from Tahoe? For some reason, I find that one very funny.

I'm sure others guffaw like a sumbitch at every 6 and roll their eyes at Tahoe.
