Headlines and decks

The new young designer isn't setting any rules. I am not the boss, and he gave me a page proof that had the three-deck headline with the four-deck subhead. The sports editor was not working that night. I told him I thought there was too much weight on the subhead, but he disagreed. Since I wasn't his boss - and it wasn't the end of the world - I just let it slide. That's why I came here for opinions.
