Some back and forth on the other threads about whether you're following it, how much you care, etc? How are you playing it in your pages day to day? Some of the colour shots on the wire are magnificent, and you have to respect that a billion people or something are following it. Did it get Page 1 play leading up to, or on opening day? Or just when the U.S. plays? Or not at all?

we have been doing inside mostly or on the back cover with teases to it on front. We did front page stories on the day before and day of start, and will most likely put US games on the front.

We'll put it on the front page one day next week, and if we sell an extra billion papers, then I guess we're on to something big.  :)

Inside roundup, with the AP World Cup today as a glance box.

We're doing a feature for tomorrow with a local angle. Local prep coach is from Argentina, so he had all of his soccer coaching buddies over for a party today. A lot of the other coaches are from different countries, so we're doing a feature on the party and what World Cup means to them.

Two full pages of coverage. The EIC is from Sunderland and thus we love soccer. Our chain will have two writers there once the Oilers are done -- God willing, that will be by Monday.

Seriously, though, CP'ed a preview of it Friday (along with a four-page pullout inside). CP'ed the opener today. We'll have USA stories on the front tomorrow, Monday and CP the gamer for Tuesday. ... Landon's a local guy, so we always play that up.

Otherwise, we'll devote an inside page or two to it, depending on space. USA gets a lot of play right now; rest of 'em, not so much.

Two tab pages inside daily, a double-truck presence. I'm trying to format something we can use each day, packaging the agate, TV schedule, gamers, etc.

The local paper has put a story on the front each of the past three days, with a two-page preview doubletruck Friday. One of the guys on the US side is local, so I would imagine USA will be centerpieced every time it plays. Germany's opening win was stripped across the top of the front of sports this morning; roundup, USA sidebar and agate ran inside.

Yeah, we've got a local angle too with Ben Olsen. Got a 35" breakout on him running tomorrow.

With a ball and 10 teammates. I can't touch the ball unless I wear a different-colored shirt. Sometimes when I get tackled, I writhe theatrically in pain.
