Huntsville's John Pruett - He gone

John Pruett is a better person than he is a writer, and he's a great writer.

As farewells go, one of the better ones I have read. He probably isn't a regular here, but good luck, John.

John's a great writer and even better person, but I'm still pissed he didn't hire me in Huntsville in 1995.

John needs all the good karma he can get - he's embarking on a 5-week trip in a van to the West Coast with his wife and mother-in-law in a couple of months.

And in case you missed it - Tuberville and David Housel, who are hardly close, flew up from Auburn together for Pruett's retirement party, even though AU had its final spring scrimmage that same afternoon. Alabama AD Mal Moore and Bama Magazine editor Kirk McNair also attended. As did former AU hoops coach Sonny Smith - just shows how much the man was respected.
