Not sure what's going on, but it sounds awful. Not sure why he stopped posting here (maybe stuff like whatever this is?) but a good dude, as far as I or anyone can tell from a message board poster.

We've had our battles on here, and at one point, I remember he said something like, "hey I like you, but you're wrong here …" or something like that. I hope I've semi-mellowed since then to appreciate that.

I hope he is well, and if he's going through a tough time, offer my thoughts and condolences.

I'm a firm believer in the First Amendment, people are entitled to their opinions and should be able to voice them.

As I learned in law school, the great Learned Hand said "let the marketplace of ideas" decide what is right and what is wrong.

Why people take this personal forever befuddles me, just let it go.

While IIRC I disagree with many of doctorquant's views, I don't wish him any ill will (or any of the others on this board).
