Wife loves Christmas music, mostly Der Bingle and Sinatra. I got some relief when I introduced her to "Quality Street," Nick Lowe's excellent Christmas album. I tried but failed to get her into the treasury of doo-wop Christmas tunes.


 
As awesome as it is it owes more than a little (something I'm sure Springsteen would acknowledge) to the Crystals' seismic reworking of it on Phil Spector's Christmas album.



I can hear it. Pretty cool.
 
Of their contemporaries (and in order). probably Shadow Gallery, Crimson Glory, Virgin Steele, and some Fates Warning on their Perfect Symmetry and Parallels albums.

If you like TSO, try everything from Gutter Ballet onward. You might not like half of Edge of Thorns as it's an updated take on the the more traditional metal they did on Sirens through Hall of The Mountain King.
