LAT editor Pearlstine stepping down

Why? Not saying it can't happen, but paying off Pearlstine and adding another high-priced editor would not be a prudent course of action before a sale. You'd want to minimize liabilities.
 
I do not envy top editors in this time. Whether motivations are good or bad, social media and the belief everything is public makes it difficult to maintain order.
 
Sale of the LAT will follow.
That would be hilarious. Tronc, in an act of revenge, or even one of the hedge funds would surely scoop it up.


No way. He's already leading one of the biggest and best newspapers in the country. Why go back to the same paper that fired him years ago, even with a new owner? He's likely retiring after his term leading the Times.
