Latest problem at the Los Angeles Times

Patrick Soon-Shiong is treating his newspaper like a toy, and that's the problem, because it's not a toy. It's an entity with an important role in society, whose job it is to inform, as best it can and in every way possible -- not only the way the rich owner who has never been a journalist thinks it should be done.

He has a basic lack of respect and understanding of the job, for reporters, and how they should, and usually do, attempt to do their work.
I'm afraid your characterization of the current state of affairs for all media is woefully outdated. The media's sole job today is to support the efforts of their billionaire owners. Full stop. The sooner we understand this, the sooner we cancel all subscriptions and stop viewing their "newscasts," the sooner we can start putting an end to the kleptocracy.

Remember when this was funny because everyone understood there was no way it could come true?
