NCAA Week 8 Running Thread

USF falls to 8.

Here's the thing......Rutgers is a very, very good team.....it's not Stanford or Oregon State we're talking about.

Rutgers would assrape either one of those schools.

Assrape? Hardly. Rutgers is good, but let's not throw out statements they'd assrape ANY Pac-10 team.

And then there were five:

Ohio State
Boston College
Cincinnati
Kansas
Hawaii

Kansas might not be undefeated in a couple days. When they go Colorado, it will be the Jayhawks' first game outside the state this season -- five home games, one road win at Kansas State.

Sorry Webby.

I thought that Rutgers' offensive line were the unsung heroes. They made Selvie a non-factor. Rice rushed for 181 yards and Teel had all the time in the world to throw.

That said, I don't think this is a terrible loss for USF. RU was a Top 25 team at the start of the season; they're probably going to finish with a 10-2, 9-3 record. A three point loss at RU? It's not time for USF to shut the doors on the program.

Next Saturday, they should dismantle UConn at Rentschler Field. Louisville's certainly beatable. If the Bulls finish 11-1, they're going to have won the Big East and go to a BCS bowl. And, if every team in the nation has one loss, USF has an argument for playing in New Orleans.

No way does USF sniff the title game. They had no margin for error.

Disagree. Winning against West Virginia and at Auburn gives USF some wiggle room, especially given how we might have 10 teams with one loss all fighting for BCS spots. With one loss, the Bulls are still in it.

I'll just assume that's a backup QB making that throw. Great, great throw.
That was his first career pass.

That is a walk-on who is the holder and the 4th-string QB.
And that was a great freaking pass.

And, my local pub bet was if USF wins, I owed the bartender $10 the minute I walked in the door. If RU wins, I drink free (and no tip) all night.
I just got home ;D

Ask Drunk Spnited thread?

And Oz, unless all but one major-conference team has more than one loss, USF is a goner. Much as Kansas will be when it loses its first.

Difference is, KU wouldn't have a marquee win before that loss; USF already has two. I won't discount the Bulls yet, not when LSU came from 12th in the BCS standings four years ago all the way back to the title game.

And yes, I do know LSU is in the SEC.

That was my thinking, too. USF not only had to win out, but from this point, every game would be a "statement game" a la the UCF game. Given the wackiness of this season, I might back off my contention that they'll fall way out of the top 10, but many voters are looking for an excuse to move up some Big 12 or Pac 10 team, and now they have it.
