New Springsteen single out tomorrow

The Clash seems to bring one of these overpriced monstrosities out once a year.

Do I really need a 60-page book full of crap? No, I have plenty of other books I don't have time to read. I have some of those albums on vinyl, cassette and CD. I don't need them remastered since my hearing is so shot from so many years of concerts, loud bars and clubs and iPods etc. that I'd never notice the difference.

I'll save the money for his next visit to Toronto.

Watch now and thank me later...

It's crazy expensive for vinyl and CD sets (the Hoffman forum is aghast, per usual, and the bitching about the song lists and "sound engineering" hasn't even started yet), but I think anyone who didn't think it would be is being a little unserious. Of course it's expensive. It's a single drop of seven unheard Springtseen albums on one day in June.

I'll be very happy with a download version when it's available, and may someday spring for a physical media version (or buy it for myself at Christmas). Happy nonetheless. It's a good day.

I haven't used my CD player in probably 6 years or more. I literally do t know if still works. I guess I will wait to download.

"Rain in the River," released this morning. It will be a part of the "Perfect World" collection, the album most likely to among the more recent recordings of the 1983-2018 timeframe.

Oh come on it can't be that bad like you said it's seven CDs you've got to expect THREE HUNDRED forkING DOLLARS?!?! That's insane. Three times what it should be. Oh well, I guess I'll just wait for it to hit the cutout bin!

The vinyl version is much more expensive than it should be, but the CD version is flat out obscene. Springsteen has some pretty hardcore fans, but sometimes it feels like he's testing them to see how much shirt they will eat in his honor.

Agreed. I like Bruce just fine (of course, I pretty much have to, since I'm a northeast-based sportswriter), but the hero of the blue-collar schtick wears a little thin sometimes when you're charging thousands of bucks for Broadway tickets and hundreds of bucks for a box set.

He also did the dynamic pricing thing with Ticketmaster.

(If I were in a snotty mood I would suggest that it has been 38 years since his last good album, but I'm not, so I will merely say the souls covers album should probably have some fans questioning their continuing support.)

The Broadway show was the first time that he tiered his pricing. It used to be that everything was the same price, with the exception of some outdoor shows where the worst seats were cheaper. He wanted the hard core fans not to get shut out.

Now he does tiered pricing for every show. I got last minute very good seats for his show at The Rock (I heard he was putting additional floor seats up the afternoon of the show) and it cost me 3x the most I had ever paid face for an ESB concert.
