My son was 13 at the time of the 2016 election and I had to try and find a way to explain the values I was seeking to raise him with were still valid even when the world rewarded the opposite.

I didn't do a very good job. Today he's 21 and a full-blown MAGA. I've barely gotten to see him since 2018 when he got pissed at me (not over politics) and stopped coming around.
