After all of the sports writers were saved at the Beacon Journal, Tom Reed then decided to leave for a news feature writing role with the Columbus Dispatch any way. Definitely a loss for the Beacon and sports journalism. Before the layoffs, the paper had 10 sports writers, it now has 8. Gary Estwick took a college gig with Fresno. No word on a replacement, but if there is one it will be in-house.
