RIP Dame Maggie Smith

Man what a legacy and career. Just had that aura about her. She brought such a presence.

RIP

Forget St. Peter. Mr. Carson announces the arrival of the Dowager Countess at the pearly gates.

She was an absolute legend with two Oscars before she turned 45. Surprised nobody figured out a way to get her a Grammy after two Oscars, an Emmy and a Tony. Not much else can be said. She classed up anything she was involved with.

So many roles. Comedic. Dramatic. Shakespearian. Harry Potterian. Downton Abbeyian.

There are few well-known actors who can trick you into believing they're playing a different character even though they're so recognizable from other roles and shows. Jimmy Stewart comes to mind. Tom Hanks is perhaps this generation's.

Maggie Smith was one of those, too. She always brought something fresh and different to each part. I can't read a Harry Potter book without her being McGonigle.

RIP, dear lady.
