RIP Jeff Beck

I think Jeff Beck was really underrated as a guitarist, largely because he didn't often work in a standard band format that would allow the masses to hear him. Page had Zeppelin. Clapton had Cream. I think Beck is far better than either but most rock fans haven't really heard him.

I mean, if we're talking ultimate "Holy shirt!"/break the internet stuff, Lady Gaga or Beyonce turning up dead would pretty much do it, right?

Whichever Beatle is the last to go, it'll be a huge deal. Pete Best will even get some significant coverage if he outlasts the others.

Yeah, you kind of have to stipulate "of that generation." Even Springsteen would top some of those names, but he's a generation behind those others.

The guys in U2 are moving into their sixties so it wouldn't be a stunning moment if one of them went -- with the exception of particularly tragic or shameful circumstances.

We can also credit Jeff Beck for telling Del Preston about that little sweet shop on the edge of town where they could get a brandy glass filled with with 1,000 brown M&Ms or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night.
