RIP Phil Lesh

Shakedown Street is one of my favorite Dead songs and albums.

The disco sound is making a bit of a comeback and this Royel Otis cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Murder on the Dancefloor reminds me of Shakedown Street.

RIP

Jimmy Buffett did some great covers of Uncle John's Band and Scarlett Begonias.

I was there two nights later, at Soldier Field as one of Pearl Jam's anti-TicketMaster shows actually happened. Otis Rush and Bad Religion opened. Eddie V. cussed out corporate "alternative" rock station Q101 on stage. One of the best shows I have ever attended.

And one guy in our group had been there two days earlier, at the final Dead show of their 1995 tour. It was his first Grateful Dead show … and unfortunately, Jerry's last.

RIP Phil Lesh.

I saw that Box of Rain is now in the top 10 of rock songs (based on sales, I presume) on iTunes.
