Not sure how I feel about Thursday being Opening Day ... wish they would go back to Monday, but I understand why they don't have it on the same day as the national championship.

They could move it to Tuesday, but then they would be conflicting with the always anticipated women's national championship. :)

Brewers magic number: 162

162's only gonna get you in a one-game playoff.

I didn't want to get greedy. Plus the Cubs automatically spot everyone in the division a game by default anyway.

Opening Day was just fine for years being on Mondays with the national championship game. If anything, I thought it made the day more exciting.

Plus, it was cool because you'd have Wrestlemania on the Sunday along with ESPN's Opening Night. Then you'd have Opening Day on the Monday and the championship game at night. A really fun couple of days that have now been spread out.

The problem is that ESPN and many of the various regional networks want a primetime game on Opening Day, and it's rating suicide to put anything up against the NCAA title game.

That said, they're still starting the season a week early. It's going to be rainy and in the mid-40s for today's Braves-Nats game in Washington, with possible snow over the weekend.

I find it tragic, on a personal level, that my best hope for my beloved Tribe, is keeping things under 90 losses. I'm not optimistic....

Trying to arrange my day so I can watch the Yankees. Anyone know how the weather is in NYC? Is there any chance the game is going to be delayed or cancelled?

They're calling for rain all day, but it's looking like the worst of it won't come until tonight so I think they'll be able to get the game in.

The charge for 83-81 begins for Buck Showalter's boys ...
