SNL's Continued Downward Spiral Thread

Watched the "Saturday Night" movie. Thought it was really good. I'm not sure how good it would be to anyone who isn't pretty well versed on the original cast and the beginning of the show. But I am and it's a thumbs up from me.

The actors portraying the cast really capture the vibe. And it's a creative way to look at the show, with the whole tale told in the 90 minutes before the first episode.

in 1998, the Braves invited high school journalists (including myself) from the Atlanta area down to Turner Field for a faux press conference before one of the exhibitions that end spring training. Gerald Williams (RIP) was one of the players involved, and I asked him about the SNL skit. I can't exactly remember his response, other than it was pretty short.

It was hardly classic, but I always enjoyed the sketch around 1997 in a Helen Hunt episode with Chris Kattan and a bunch of obscure at best MLBers come out of his closet. Mark Wohlers called Kattan's character (he was playing a little boy) a fag.
I had never scene or heard of this sketch before. And Mark Grudzielanek was not obscure!
