Nothing like keeping up with the goings-on at a paper 600 miles away that also happens to still be in the same freaking state.

Let's eliminate a large chunk of USPS income and email space by establishing this law on hiring:
You don't have to post an opening of a job when you know damn good and well you'll hire from within. Just stop the bullshirt. Ninety percent of job openings are solved this way. Nothing wrong with hiring from within, but damn, stop the pretenses.

So what you're saying is not one is too eager to move to eastern Idaho?

Sure, the management made a big show of posting for the job (two months after the SE quit), but small daily SE was the only guy interviewed (and hired another month or so after the posting). Of course, old SE was right about everything.
The rest of the dept. would have been fine had they just said that up front. We knew it didn't matter because management doesn't care about our opinions on anything.
