The point is fine, but the horrible, snarky way it's written just undercuts the point. You don't get to call people out for being unoriginal when your post is snarky takedowns of other things.

Pass.

I guess that's it. The queen of sj has spoken.

In the list writer forgot the best of "the last" -
Tom Wolfe's "The Last American Hero" about Junior Johnson. Maybe it does not count because it was originally Esquire story.

And FTR, your wifey is and forever will be queen of SportsJournalists.com. So you can take your sanctimonious bullshirt somewhere else. I said I WOULD PASS. Not "everyone should stop reading this thread because I have weighed in now."

fork off, Boom.

fork you igag. Why did we need to know that "you passed" You answered snark with snark.

That. Was. The. Point.

Also, generally, and I'll try to type slowly for you here: When people post on a message board thread, it's to express their opinion. So if I said "I really liked that blog post," would you really feel the need to say "Why did we need to know you liked it?"

I mean, it's kind of what we do here, yes?

Fred Perry was many times over a tennis champion.

Unfunny and factually incorrect is no way to go through life.

you wants facts?

factually, was he the last champion?

In a particular sense? Yes. And still is.

explain.

See that wiki link? The answer's in the first paragraph.

He was the last British Wimbledon champion. why not put that in the title?

I always thought that Fred Perry was more known for his sport shirts than his shoes. The gold standard for tennis shoes are the Stan Smith's. I always thought the Fred Perry shoes were a bit on the effete side.

One little known fact about Fred Perry was that he invented the sweat band.

Because in what I would venture is the target market for the book, it's common knowledge.

Same thing that happened to everyone, cuz everyone eventually tells Boom that.

It's the same thing with The Greatest. Greatest/Best game books have included Giants-Colts NFL title game; Yanks-Sox 1978 playoff game; Pirates-Yankees Game 7 1960; Game 6 between Astros-Mets 1986; 1957 game when UNC beat Wilt;
