The last sportswriters of New York

I have a lot of respect for Serby and Brooks.

Mushnick? Nah. He's basically been writing the same garbage column the entire time, with a healthy dose of racism.

That was a fun read.
Nicely written by Dave Kaplan, my former editor at the NY Daily News -- and what a tale he could likely tell about those glory days.

And I'm especially appreciative of the anecdote about Larry Brooks taking the talented Mollie Walker under his wing ... because the Post has had its fair share of issues with how female sports writers are treated.

That was a good read. Thanks for posting. And it's reminder of what a darn shame it is the Daily News was gutted.

I'm glad I never could truthfully state "My boss, Rupert Murdoch......"
When the Herald first hired me from freelancing, Murdoch owned it. He sold it to his publisher Pat Purcell about a year later, but I worked for him. As I've told people for decades, the checks cleared. More than I can say for some other places I worked.
