The Soccer Thread (Version 14) — Sing Your Anthem Loudly Edition

I did notice that the Saudi league was on FS2 over the weekend. I wonder if they will make it a priority given all of the stars who are there now.

About time that Manchester United distanced itself from Mason Greenwood. It was a disgrace that it took this long and their hand was completely forced by both the reporting in The Athletic and public backlash. We make a lot of compromises as sports fans but I'm not sure I could have continued to support the club if they had brought him back. The fact that he hasn't even provided any explanation/apology is even worse.

Their statement sucks, too. Basically "We don't think he committed a crime, but because people just HAD to complain..."

Luis Rubiales told an emergency general assembly of the federation "I won't resign" four times in quick succession and claimed he was a victim of a witch hunt by "false feminists."

It's funny that I had bet France to win the WWC because I thought they would get a boost from the new coach and moving on from the prior toxic regime. And the team with the most screwed up management won the tournament.
