This Is The Future

I don't think the college education is the problem. I think it begins with weak high school education. Kids don't know how to write, speak or think for themselves when they hit the college campus.

Wifey has a first-rate education (top 25 accounting school), and I don't think mine's bad, either. Not as good as hers, but ...
 
The history of the miseducation of the American student begins with the sterilization of history at the grade school level and continues through college.

They try and take politics completely out of it -- of course, that's excepting its capitalism-as-infallible-deity dogma -- and then expect it to be interesting when it is just a series of facts, dates and wars.

Nothing, ever, about what caused the wars.

Nothing, ever, about why people did what they did.

Cleaved from context, it becomes the most boring subject in the world.

There is an excellent book out there called "Everything your teacher told you was wrong..." that deals with this phenomenon. Howard Zinn (Hi Douchebag!) has also written extensively on the subject.
