This year's SI swimsuit edition cover model is ...

I think the '78 issue with Cheryl Tiegs in the white mesh suit was my first one. My parents confiscated it and wouldn't let me have it. I was super pissed, until I realized I had other friends with the issue.

That's funny, because that time it was my brother and I who "confiscated it" and shredded the thing putting all the pictures all over our room. "Hey Dad, SI? Nope, haven't seen it....."

No way I'm cutting my list down to four.
But I'd say the Grand Tetons are the better setting.

This was the last SI swimsuit edition I ever had, as part of my subscription in 2003.

My very pregnant wife gave me the stink eye when she saw it, so I stashed it in my pickup with the thought I could browse at my leisure some other time.

Instead it was sacrificed days later so that my 2-wheel drive Mazda could gain traction to escape the mud bog I was forced to park in while covering a region basketball tournament in Nahunta, Ga. My son was born the next month and my swimsuit edition days were done.

Most of them are lovely in a fantasy shopping for ways I'd like my own parts to look sense. These two pictures look very, very 'shopped, though. The college boyfriend who dragged me to the Memphis Davis-Kidd while I was sick with the flu so he could get a copy of the Rolling Stone Hot Issue with Wynona Ryder on the cover played a role in my decision to never get married.

That cover photo of Martha Stewart hardly even looks like a swim-suit shot.

It's more like a bathing suit cover-up shot. And it doesn't do anything for her. That cover-up looks like it's part of a couture gown, or something.

Christie Brinkley. Elle Macpherson. Kathy Ireland. Kate Upton.
And Gayle King.

I have a hard time just watching Gayle King attempt to read a teleprompter and ad-lib (without stumbling) while clothed in business attire.
No desire to see her posed in a swimsuit.
