What did you get for Christmas?

Props to Steak for getting engaged. I am so looking forward to the PxP of the Vegas honeymoon. And be sure to eat the waffles.

LTL, the wine aerator is very economical; I use mine to turn a $6 bottle of Malbec into a $12 one...it really does quickly improve the flavor of reds.

Question for those of you who got the Fitbit. I've been given an REI gift certificate with the intention of getting one, but the more I research the less I like it. Namely, the band apparently is poorly designed. The clasp opens, and the device disappears before you notice. Do any of you with a Force have this problem?

Also, does it sync to any other software. Namely, my life is now chronicled by MapMyFitness app on my iPhone...which tracks my cycling, my food and my goals (but not my steps and not my sleep), and I'm wondering if it syncs with MMF?

A hot air popcorn popper. (Because that is the ONLY way to eat popcorn.)

A Texan Gnome that tells the temperature.

Several Texans shirts. (Never a bad gift.)

A new, very fluffy robe.

An awesome caddy that holds all my rubber stamping stamp pads!

New fuzzy house shoes.

A 7 day visit with my daughter. That looking back, feels like 7 minutes.

Daffodil bulbs to plant in February. Along with padded gloves to plant with.

Good times.

My haul:

Niners hoodie (The really good Nike ones)
Two college hoodies
Fitbit
Fitbit scale
DDP Yoga (I have a bad back and have wanted to try it)
Duck Dynasty pajamas (inside joke gift from my wife)
Four tickets (crazy ridiculous seats) to an amazing basketball game that I can't wait for.

I do DDP Yoga. Back problems for me, too. I found that the first two levels are fine. The easiest level is like having a good stretching session mixed with a bit of physical therapy and light cardio. The second level added a bit. After that, my back just isn't in good enough shape for the tough, high-level fat-burning exercises.

So, being a cheap biscuit, I burned the discs to my computer and scanned the poster that shows the stretches. I kept the MP3 files. Then I took everything and put it on eBay and got 90 percent of what I bought it for (because some people are just stupid, I guess). I still have what I need to exercise.

But I'm glad I've got it. And really, once you learn the routines you don't need the video. The MP3 files take you through the exact same routine, and you'll know the order of stretches after a week or so. Good luck.

That's cool to hear. Five people have messaged me about DDP yoga from this site. I'm really excited to try it.

- Madden 25 for the PS3.
- VISA gift cards and cash that totaled roughly $350 (putting that money towards a solid bike and/or a brewing kit)
- A&M Fishing shirt and mugs (solid choices)
- Personalized bible and keychain
- Trip to Mississippi with girlfriend and family

Overall, a nice end to the year

For those with the wine aerator: My brother in law got one from from my nephew. They were across the room when it was opened. My wife didn't hear what it was. I said, "He said it was an aerator." "What's that?"she asked. "It goes in the live well on your boat. His must be broken." Another brother in law, who fancies himself, spoke up, "Uh, no. It's for your wine." Me, "I don't drink wine when I'm fishing."

You could buy a helluva brewi. Kit for $350.

Toothbrush, belt, socks...
AND AN AUTOGRAPHED PHOTO OF DON KNOTTS!!!!
It was the best Christmas ever

I too got engaged like Steak. I got some great gifts, but that was the best.

As for the rest:
Mortal Kombat PS3 game/Billy Madison/Tommy Boy discs; two Mizzou pint glasses; jeans and shirt; pair of tickets to the local low-level hockey team and an awesome Christmas Story behind-the-scenes book. Plus she put a bag of Topsy's cinnamon corn in my stocking.... much more than I deserve.

My parents got me a Royals hoodie and t-shirt; Madden 25 (which I've since exchanged for NHL 14 because I don't like Madden anymore); and a couple pairs of comfy pants.

Not a bad haul at all.

who did you pish off to end up with a Royals hoodie!?!? Otherwise, sounds like a great haul and congrats on the engagement

New pair of running shoes from my mom. Perfect solution. She got to get me something I needed. And we were able to get her overthrow psychological hurdle where she thought my brother and I are still counting packages.

A variety of Belgian beers from my brother, along with a cocktail recipe book and a pair of glasses from Three Floyds brewery near Chicago.

Were they the FFF Teku style glasses? I love mine, but they are very delicate.

It was just after Xmas but I got seven stitches on the coconut, thanks to a flying puck that just cleared the low glass at one of my least favorite rinks in the world.

Beats by Dre phones.
Treat from my beautiful wife.
So powerful.
I cranked Back in Black the other day and it about blew me out of my chair.

I am so intrigued by those. I have headphones on constantly, so I wouldn't mind splurging on an expensive pair, but it gets hard to justify $200-$300 for headphones.

Check these out:
http://www.gradolabs.com/page_headphones.php

I got a pair of the 60s for Xmas, and they are fantastic. I wanted them for home recording. A buddy and fellow music hobbyist/audiofile loaned me his pair, so I knew first-hand how good they were before I got them.
Of course, they're not contained, so they're not good for air/train travel.
The bass response is great, ad a much better buy than Beats.

In addition to the new ear cans, I got a few paperbacks and hot sauce variety pack.
My SportsJournalists.com secret Santa sent me two very cool Johns Hopkins lacrosse T-shirts.

I bought myself iRig Keys keyboard controller for my home recording software and apps, but I haven't opened it.
This was not an approved purchase, and I feel guilty about it. I think I'm going to take it back.
Although I really want to use it.

For about the past 10 years, my dad has given me and my brothers each a book with a "bookmark" -- a check for $1,000.
The book is always thoughtful, and he gets joy out of giving us the opportunity to spoil ourselves.
