I'd usually be screaming at players who would turn down Perry's bribes. Take the money! Take the trip! Fill your pockets, dammit! If you were smart enough to be in the lead, you're smart enough to probably get it back with the easy questions. And if you don't, well, you're taking home something better than an Oster blender.
That show had everything. True 80s excess. New cars. Vacations. Summer Bartholomew in a swimsuit. The confident, dashing Jim Perry. Some trivia -- above Press Your Luck but not at the level of Jeopardy!
There was also the level of poker-like gambling within the game as well. Perry would "bribe" the contestants if they were ahead. "Can I buy... 20 points... but I'll give you... one... thousand dollars?"
Throw in his brother Jack Narz. Another guy who was not great but very versatile.Tom Kennedy just passed away last month at 93.
Definitely not a Rushmore but we was the Charlie Batch of hosts. Could plug him in anywhere.
I humbly submit the original "Press Your Luck@ host Peter Tomarkin. Show was good, but he died (too soon) piloting his aircraft in a emergency medical flight. Special humanitarian consideration.
Hall of 6, along with Vanna White, Carol Merrill, the Barker Babes and Summer Bartholomew.
As good as place as any to post this video:
