2025 NFL offseason thread

Jameis Winston to the Giants. Only a truly battered fan base - and I include myself totally - can see this as a real upgrade. We got our first round QB pick!

I read at least one report suggesting they still might try to get Rodgers, though I think Ancient Aaron is stuck choosing between the Steelers and retirement.

Draft question, one of the hot edge guys is Stewart from A&M, someone who never exceeded 1.5 sacks a year. Do the scouts truly ignore the production during games? I know sacks are at times misleading but max 1.5 in a year??

Oweh had no sacks as a junior at Penn State although he was pretty good his sophomore year. He had a great pro day, went at the end of the first round and just had 10 sacks for Baltimore.

That's obviously an outlier, but shows recently teams don't care as much about stats.

A&M in general is one of those programs where 2 plus 2 always seems to add up to 3.5. Hard to say if it is coaching or if they just keep valuing recruiting stars above motor and work habits.

Oweh at least had five sacks as a sophomore, so he had managed a little more production.

When I was looking at colleges about four decades ago, aTm appealed to me for two reasons: hot party girls and lack of "freshman core" requirements.

2+2=3.5 sounds like standard aTm math.

He was close a lot his third year at PSU, but never got any sacks. Believe he was near the top of the Big Ten in pressures that year for whatever that's worth. He's taken some time to come around in Baltimore, but they obviously thought enough of him to pick up his fifth-year option and that was before his 10-sack season this year. I'm sure 13 sacks through the first three seasons and the $13.2 million cap number for 2025 (or about $2 million more than they paid him him his first four seasons combined) helped with the decision.

The Giants are a mess, but at least they had enough sense to stay away from Aaron Rodgers. A tiny bit of hope they can turn things around in a couple of years.
