So is the Saturday start to the SCF official?

Yes, Sat. Sun. Tues Thurs.

First two NBC second two VS

http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs/2009/news?id=4203658

I don't think it's a done deal yet, but I can't see why they wouldn't.

Surely you don't expect the league office to do something sensible.

And I bet one of those weekend games will be in the afternoon.

And back to back games?

Jesus, could the NHL suck up to NBC any more?

My bet is 9 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.

You're welcome, Sidney. ;)

Incidentally, the last time there were back-to-back games in the Finals was 1955.

All 8 p.m. starts, the official first four just moved on the wire with the ubiquitous: Remainder of schedule TBD.

Ok, the whole thing's out now.

Detroit vs. Pittsburgh
Saturday, May 30: Pittsburgh at Detroit, 8 p.m.
Sunday, May 31: Pittsburgh at Detroit, 8 p.m.
Tuesday, June 2: Detroit at Pittsburgh, 8 p.m.
Thursday, June 4: Detroit at Pittsburgh, 8 p.m.
Saturday, June 6: Pittsburgh at Detroit, 8 p.m., if necessary
Tuesday, June 9: Detroit at Pittsburgh, 8 p.m., if necessary
Friday, June 12: Pittsburgh at Detroit, 8 p.m., if necessary

Puck Daddy's having a "No Foil Stanley Cup Replica Contest". Winner gets a year's subscription to the Hockey News.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/New-Contest-The-No-Foil-Stanley-Cup-Replica-Com?urn=nhl,166159

What we want are 3-D handmade Stanley Cup replicas that stray far away from the usual foil-wrap jobs. Build one with matchsticks. Build one with marshmallows. Build one with three dozen people contorting their bodies in a field. We want the most outlandish, creative and inventive "replicas" of the Stanley Cup you can conceive -- as long as you don't create a traditional "foil" version and, in the end, it looks like the Cup.

The one on the right is constructed from Lego.

The one on the left will be disqualified.

Anyone know what is ailing Lidstrom or how serious it might be? Precious little discussion about it on the airwaves.

Obviously, he'll be a key in the next series and I'm just wondering if he'll miss any games.

You know about the NHL injury policy, right?

Nobody knows anything. He's either got an "upper" or "lower" body injury and he's day to day.

It's bullshirt.

Thanks, Blackhawks, for a heck of a season. Conference final in a year when many fans would have been satisfied with just making it back to the playoffs...not bad.

Thanks also for looking decent in game five...and making memory of game four's epic fail fade a bit.

Now, any NHL teams out there want a really pricey French goalie?

WI

He played his butt off last night and except for that damn bounce off the endboards, they may still be playing.

Still, his contract is a bit of a disincentive but who knows, maybe he'll be the Hawks' version of Chris Osgood?

Great team. I mean, a team that's gonna be competitive for a number of years.

It will be an interesting off-season in Chicago. They'll have to decide if they want to keep Havlat. And yeah, Huet can be brilliant at times...then horrendous.

Any thoughts on where Khabibulin might land?

Lower body injury.

Lidstrom never misses games so it must be serious.

Not a lot of people realize the Wings won the last 2 games of that series with about 7 junior varsity players.

Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Erickson, Lilja, Lebda and Kopecky all out.
