Excellent film, I remember the Escobar own goal like it was yesterday, and I remember being stunned that he was gunned down (I was 13 and naive).

Very well done, yet again.

I have always loved the star jerseys. Most people don't, but I thought it was a great looking setup with the blue shirts, red shorts and white socks.

I missed the end of the show (although I know how it ends) ... fell asleep dang it.

The documentary was excellent.

Seeing that footage was a reminder of a crazy summer. I was one of those dudes in the purple berets and beige faux-military outfits that day (that's what they laughably put on the "security" people). Had a nice spot under the scoreboard opposite the own-goal. People behind that goal held a huge American flag and chanted "Ole Ole Ole USA USA" for at least a half hour after the game. I figured then that MLS might actually have an audience in its initial days. And I was glad that we weren't going to be the first host to fail to advance.

Unforgettable day.

And Shoeless, I liked those jerseys too. Even if they looked like denim.

I'm not a soccer fan, but the 1994 World Cup is the best sporting event I ever covered. It was insane there.

I was nine years old when this happened. I remember seeing it on the news that Escobar was killed, but I wasn't really following the World Cup so I didn't know the details. Didn't know it happened against the US.

And I don't follow soccer, so I never really heard much about it since, until now. So I learned a lot last night in a pretty cool documentary. I also agree that ESPN sucks, but this 30 for 30 stuff is cool.

I especially liked the one documentary about Fantasy Baseball.

Agreed, Mizzou. The Escobar doc certainly is up there as well. As Brian said, ESPN has stepped up its game with the last two.

With that being said, I might skip the next one...

I thought the ending of the Escobar doc was spot-on. And in retrospect, you kinda have to wonder what Andres Escobar was thinking, considering the circumstances leading up to the USA match. Getting threats is one thing... but getting threatened in the manner they did is quite another.

I've seen a handful of them (TSN puts them on up here but who can figure out their schedule) but I'm figuring ESPN will probably release a boxed set of all 30, right?

Oddly enough, both the June 17 1994 and Escobar incident with within a few weeks of one another.
