Alabama basketball player charged with capital murder

I'm on record saying Nate Oats has done a mean Sideshow Bob and the rakes routine. But the "TSA" blurb divorced from the rest of paragraph doesn't provide context.

"We addressed it as a team," Oats said. "As soon as I brought it up to them, they immediately understood how it could be interpreted. We all felt awful about it. They explained to me, it's like when TSA checks you before you get on a plane. Now Brandon is cleared for takeoff. We as the adults in the room should have been more sensitive to how it could have been interpreted. I dropped the ball. We've addressed it. I can assure you it won't happen again."

Oh, for fork's sake.

For clarity's sake, what they are saying is that the patdown thing they've done all year is miming an airport search and now he's cleared for takeoff. You can believe as much of that as you wish, and certainly to keep doing it after the shooting and in particular after Miller's delivering the gun was made public was asinine.

Oats is so full of shirt. First he claimed that he didn't pay attention to it. Now he is covering for his player by saying he should have known better than to allow it. Which is it? Was he aware and let it go or unaware?

If nothing else, it shows that Miller doesn't give a damn that he was involved in the death of another human being.
