Thanks. I'm not comic addicted. My mistake.

Is anyone else watching "The Expanse" on SyFy? I've just found it, and holy shirt is it good. Set in the asteroid belt with the solar system colonized, Mars and Earth on the brink of war. Best TV SF I've seen since Firefly.
Had a bit of a Guardians of the Galaxy feel to it. Might end up being the best of the Thor movies.
I like Thor as a character and Chris Hemsworth is perfect in the role, but I haven't been blown away by either solo film. He has worked so much better in the Avengers films than the solo films. Hopefully this is better, but I'm not familiar with the villain, so I'm hoping that doesn't kill the movie for me.That was an amazing teaser trailer. I'm very excited for Thor to finally have a fun, kick-ass film. I've liked the two prior, but this looks good. Real good. A lot of stories seemed to be crammed in and I hope Marvel can make it work.
Had to watch it again. And again. Wow. The visuals. Colors. Just wow. Yes. Very Guardians feel to it, but I'm OK with it. Hot damn!
I'm not worried about the look per se (and I like that they're giving him the helmet). I'm worried that cutting his hair and destroying Mjolnir signals that Thor is going to be somewhat "mortal," for lack of a better word, for a significant chunk of the film. I hate when superheroes lose their abilities in movies. I don't want to see Superman get beat up in a diner (or drinking his face off), I don't want to see Spider Man falling off walls, I don't want to see Professor X unable to read people's minds. The Thor solo films haven't been great. I'm hoping they are making big enough changes for this one to work better.
They may be cutting the hair, but they are giving him a helmet that fits the comic book look a little better. The movies have never been completely true to the comics. For one thing, Thor was always clean shaven in the books. How many MCU characters are completely true to the look in the comics? They went with the beard because they thought it looked better and the look of the character has never been the problem in the movies.
One thing to keep in mind with the MCU is they use a lot in terms of look and story from the Ultimate Marvel books before they went completely off the rails. The MCU Hawkeye takes some elements from the Ultimate books, specifically the part about him being married with kids. A Nick Fury that looks like Samuel Jackson came from the Ultimate line, as did the Triskelion.
"At the end of the day, 90% of the movie, I'm not the character I signed on to play. I'm literally in there for two minutes, and then all of a sudden… All I could really work on was the physical part of it all, because that didn't change. That was just the biggest challenge to overcome in playing the guy."
