Chase Daniel for the Heisman, anyone?

I think Daniel should be invited to New York. However, the only realistic shot he has of winning it is to blow the doors off of KU and Oklahoma in Mizzou victories.... and I'd like to think that's possible.

I'm sure I'm about to encur some Beaker wrath, but here goes: as of right now, Todd Reesing can't be considered a candidate for the same reason KU is'nt No. 1... strength of schedule. Can that change over the last weeks of the season? Absolutely. But not right now.

I also think whoever emerges from this three-team scrum in the Big 12 can and absolutley should leapfrog Oregon.

No wrath here, it's the truth. But if KU wins the next three weeks and Reesing plays well in those, he merits consideration.

I think Tebow's the best player in the country, but he's a sophomore and a QB just about HAS TO BE in the national-title race to win the Heisman. Carson Palmer is the only recent exception, but USC guys always get more attention than others.

Daniel deserves as much consideration as Dixon, and maybe more if he beats Kansas and Oklahoma on back-to-back weeks. Just hope most of the ballots aren't already in by then.

Daniel has about a 5 percent chance of winning the thing. Next year, different story.
Tebow, Dixon and McFadden are all probably still ahead of him.

Tebow: Absolutely sick numbers against good competition
Dixon: Great player on a well-known, successful West-coast team
McFadden: Had the preseason vote and has put up solid numbers

No way Daniel passes up all three of those players. Same for Reesing, even if the Jayhaws are 13-0 heading into the final vote.

Daniel has eaten defenses alive this year and prior to it.
He seems like a "system" QB to me, though, much like Kliff Kingsbury was at TTech a few years ago.
That'd limit his chances, in my book, of making it on the next level.
But the Heisman is for college accomplishments and he's sure had many.
My Heisman vote would go to Dixon or McFadden, depending on who does best down the stretch.

Compare running backs, however, and it's evident passing is more crucial to Missouri. Kansas doesn't need Reesing to throw for 350 a game. It's two different quarterbacks in two different systems having great years.
