Chicago Sun-Times devotes entire front page to begging for a new owner

Where is the Sun Times located now? Who purchased their building/land? It's pretty crazy how the selling of prime newspaper land was the last way to get the CEOs their huge year ending bonuses. I have heard that it is now THE No. 1 way of making money. Selling of property and the physical structure. It's crazy how the era of rewarding the CEO has sped the death of journalism. Think of all the cool, historic amazing buildings that housed newspapers that are ... gonzo!

If you own a business and it fails the last thing remaining is the building and land.

According to Google Maps the Sun-Times is an office building known as the Apparel Center or River Point North.

The Sun-Times building was sold to a developer.

It's next to the Merchandize Mart, which at one time was owned by the Kennedy family.

I thought at one time the Tribune published a free tabloid throwaway that was handed out at El stops, etc, Ia my memory correct? Does the Trib still do that?

Jokes aside, why does Tronc want the Sun Times? Is it just for the building and land? Would there be any possible reason to continue printing the Sun Times newspaper? Or keep its website? I see no possible reason.
If the Tribune buys the Sun-Times I would guess the Sun-Times folks would move to the Tribune offices to save rent. And if there is not enough space lay-offs will ensue.

Best of luck, and hope they can make a go of it, at least for a little while.

Saw the Sun-Times on a recent visit. It was quite thin and national/international coverage consisted of the USA Today insert. But the sports columnist (Morrissey) and the Cubs and Sox beat reporters were good reads, and the paper also did a solid job of covering Illinois' budget brouhaha.
