Rushin must be on vacation this week, and Chris Ballard does a great job filling in. His column is headlined "Committing a Chortle Sin," and it's all about how the NFL pregame shows have turned into an unfunny hour-long yuckfest. He talked to some media training experts about it, including one guy who said, "They have to realize that the reason they're there is because they're experts, not because they're Jerry Seinfeld."

Good stuff, and refreshing to read some commentary in that space instead of 25 inches of one-liners.

I think Kornheiser had a slight jab near the end of PTI today toward Ballard's column. He didn't name it specifically, but the sentiment was there. I don't have Tivo, so can't be exact.
