DP does pull some good guests. Where else on ESPN radio will you hear people like David Stern, Phil Jackson, Reggie Miller, Charles Barkley, Mary Tillman (Pat's mother), Rick Reilly, Peter Gammons, etc.

Mike and Mike, Cowturd, SportsBash (who actually wants to talk to Seibel?) and GameNight don't have the esteemed guest list.

This isn't meant to sucky sucky on DP's peepee, but it make his show listenable (?) because most of his guests you actually want to hear.

Jim Rome pulled Pat Tillman, his dad and his brother; Barkley's crazy ass, Stern, Reggie, Ottawa Sens owner Roy Malacher, and several more guests, sports and non-sports that are more compelling than a quasi-Larry King segment.

But at least with Patrick, he doesn't spend the next five minutes after an interview patting himself on the back for how ............................................. Epic ....................................................... Solid ........................................ the interview was.

I alwyas enjoyed Jim Daniels and Sareg before him on Fos Sports overnights. Sarge and Jason Smith were a good combination, I thought.

I don't know how reliable of a source this writer is, especially if it's who I think it is.

has anyone who listens to patrick noticed how hard he flip-flops on everything?

basic rundown of an average show:

? patrick comes out with a strong opinion in the open where he just bashes and bashes on some point that sounds like he thought it up in the five minutes before going on the air.

? his first guest is an espn expert who pitifully laughs at patrick's poorly constructed argument and makes patrick look like a fool by rebutting his argument.

? next guest comes on, and patrick has adopted first guest's line of thinking and grills second guest with arguments used by first guest. He takes such a tone that suggests patrick is the one who originated the argument and the second guest is a moron for not immediately seeing it "his" way.

? second guest and any listeners who didn't catch first guest think that patrick knows his stuff. but people who heard the open and the first guest know patrick is a gravy-training, flip-flopping know-nothing.

this seems like a trend to me. but nobody i know has noticed it. am i crazy or is this what happens?

Does he argue like that? Yes. Is it entertaining radio? No. Does it get old? Yes.

Does he have another habit that's even more annoying? Yes.

you mean the name-dropping? i'm not annoyed by that.

i guess i only really listen to patrick to hear olberman and rick reilly. i wouldn't care to follow him to any other format if those two weren't staples.

Dan Patrick would be a miserable choice. He's way too much of a smirking name-dropper for the "Price is Right" audience, who largely doesn't know who he is.

From what I hear the producers want Drew Carey if he'll take it.

He might be OK. I lean toward O'Hurley, but I think Drew could do pretty well.
